I have been student teaching for 10 weeks now and have about a month left. There has been some ups and downs. Some great lessons and some that have completely failed. There have been sweet kids and really lazy high school kids that I just don't know what to think about. Overall with the good and bad I know that I LOVE Teaching!
Last week I was sitting in my classroom thinking while I was waiting for the next class to come in knowing that I didn't get much sleep the night before and I was really and tired and ornery before I started class and now I was in a great mood from being around my students. They are great!
These are some of the unforgettable moments or comments that have happen so far that I won't be able to forget...
1. First day of teaching I was told by a senior student...."I'm brown and disadvantage I can't write a full page!"
I was shocked and didn't even know what to say besides I can't make you do anything. The best part he wrote a full page and did a great job. He is now one of my favorite students!
2. "What's a PAP Smear?"
-One of my volleyball students asked this after another student brought it up
3. In class we created "Healthy Relationship Recipes" for a 60 year marriage. After 4 classes of doing this they all went so well with a 1 cup of love, 1 tablespoon of honesty and a pinch of humor. All the groups did various things like this until four boys in one group was reading theres and added 6 tablespoons of intercourse! I was livid. If you didn't know we live in Utah and our schools are even more conservative. I could get in lots of trouble for this if I didn't do something about this.
4. One of my favorite comments was..."Ms. Petersen, you are the best Student Teacher I have ever had!" So I replied, "Am I the only Student Teacher you have ever had?" He told me know no and I keep the class under control. This made my day.
5. A boy in my second period went and sat by one of his friends during class. I was fine with this but he had to be quiet when I was talking. He got a little chatty and I moved him back to his seat. So at the end of class when they turned in an assignment I found a note on his work. He apologized in his note for being disrespectful and was sorry. He is a really sweet and good kid. He is always helpful!

Ha ha! These comments crack me up! You should keep a log of these through the years. It would be fun to look back on. :)
